We recycled Christmas trees into biofuel for St john’s hospice

Our staff recently took part in an annual christmas tree recycling event in lancaster for st john’s hospice.

On 6th and 7th January four of our operatives gave up their time using two of our Sapphire vans to transport old Christmas trees to a recycling centre in Kendal.

Joined by other volunteers from various local businesses around Lancaster, our staff visited many houses and businesses around the area over the course of two days and transported them to the recycling plant.

This event run by St John’s Hospice is a donation only service to help the local community whilst also striving to be greener by turning the old Christmas trees into biofuel.

Last year’s Christmas Tree Recycling Event raised £28,000, which helped to help meet the fund-raising need for £9,000 per day towards running costs for the hospice.

Over 2475 individual collections were made using 25 vans with support from over 30 volunteers each day and over 10 tonnes of Christmas Trees were responsibly recycled.

Our amazing volunteers have been out collecting Christmas trees starting at 7am from Windermere all the way down to Garstang! As sad as it is to say goodbye to our Christmas trees at home, they will go on to have another use- many are recycled into bio fuel! And, of course, all your donations will help fund our Hospice
