Sapphire raised £60,000 for charity

Christmas is a time to be happy. We often spend it with our loved ones, however with the recent lockdown update we understand that this year will be very different from our usual festive activities over the Christmas break. At Sapphire, we want to support our communities, and we understand that many are going through unforeseen struggles with work and home life.

At the end of November, we decided that we wanted to choose a couple of local food banks within our local area to support with a donation and also with our staff volunteering to give out presents, wrap presents and organise food donations. Michael Patel, founder of Sapphire Utility Solution, set a target of raising £30,000 in 30 days to provide essential items to food banks. We reached out to our clients, partners, staff and their families to raise as much as possible to help those less fortunate families within our community this Christmas. If we managed to reach £30,000, Michael generously agreed that we would double it!

We received many donations from companies, staff and friends from around the country, and reached our goal of £30,000 on 18th December 2020, which meant with Sapphire’s donation we had over £60,000 raised for charity!

We are extremely grateful for each and every contribution from our clients, partners and staff. These generous donations will help many vulnerable people in our community, and will ensure during these unprecedented times, that all families who have signed up to these food banks will not go hungry this Christmas.

Since raising this substantial amount for charity, we have donated £3,000 to Noor Food Bank, £3,000 to Preston Community Hub Food Bank and £3,000 to Andover Food Bank. In addition, we have teamed up with Morrisons and donated £60,000 to the food banks which they work with across 21 stores. Our donation will contribute towards hundreds of hampers to various food banks throughout the area to help feed those in need.

Thank you very much to all of the people who have donated to this important cause, which is very close to our hearts. We are keeping our Just Giving page open until the end of December to continue to raise money for each of these charities throughout the festive Period.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Sapphire Utility Solutions.
