United Utilities & Sapphire Utility Solutions working collaboratively in the community

Our team working within our United Utilities contract recently took part in a community project at Hill House Gardens in Heswall. The Hill House Gardens volunteers were without a water supply to the gardens, as it had been previously damaged and made inoperable. Our United Utilities team visited the site after permission was given from Wirral Borough Council to install an outside tap within a secure casing. This was to assist the group of volunteers who look after the park after they struggled to keep the gardens alive due to lack of water.

We provided a 90-meter hose trolley and hose reel to ensure all greenery could be well kept. A solid oak planter was also designed and built by our team which was filled with flowers.

Sammy Nelson from United Utilities, who co-ordinated of the project explained: These gardens are a green oasis of flora and fauna, at the centre of the bustling town of Heswall and will keep giving to the local community for years to come now.

“I cannot believe the determination of Sammy to see this project through and we will be forever in his debt and grateful to United Utilities and to Sapphire Utility Solutions for the construction of the raised bed. Our work starts now in selecting suitable planting to show off the beautiful oak bed to the community of Heswall.”
