Amazing adaptation demonstrated in Andover

Our staff in Andover recently demonstrated innovation in Barrow Wake for Gloucestershire County Council!

A pre-site visit was recently undertaken on a new scheme within our Ringway contract in Gloucester to visit a client with two cattle grids. As part of our drainage scheme, the clients’ cattle grid needed cleaning out, which would take place within the next 5-8 working days.

Upon the initial visit, our team came across a common issue – cattle grids are very hard to clean as they are not easily moved or lifted to enable suction of waste. After the team discussed the best way to overcome this issue, they came up with a fantastic idea of designing a boom adaption. This would mean that it could be adapted to the boom and still would allow the suction to remove the silt from the grid.

The team in Andover contacted a local fabricator with their finalized design and the new product was produced and put to work last week.

We received excellent feedback from the client who was surprised by the adaptation and very impressed with the innovation, so much so that he decided to share this on his LinkedIn page.

It is great to work with an innovative team of people who are always striving to find ways to get the works completed. We always try to encourage this type of innovation that makes the work more economical and safer. Whilst using the kit on site, the operatives were able to operate this easily and effectively, also reducing the time needed on site. Well done to the team!
