HGV Mechanic

Sapphire Fleet & Plant, support our contracts across the UK with a wide range of fleet including HGV & LCV and due to massive growth, we are looking for more HGV mechanics to support the department.

We have recently heavily invested to have a state-of-the-art workshop with all the relevant equipment to carry out the tasks required.

As a HGV mechanic, you will be tasked with carrying out PMI, MOT prep, servicing on owned fleet that spans multiple manufacturers and models as well as carrying out repairs or replacing broken or defective parts. Be able to carry out DVSA vehicle testing and road-test vehicles to check repairs, while making sure that all of the relevant documentation is completed to the required standard.

Candidates must be able to inspect and diagnose problems with vehicle engines and mechanical, electrical and have experience with hydraulics. We use state of the art computer-based diagnostic equipment, but candidates must be able to use and their own competent judgement and experience.

Sapphire Fleet & Plant work on a shift pattern to enable our fleet to be out working, whilst this model gives the mechanics the relevant time to carry out correct maintenance and repairs.

Skills, qualifications, and experience

Applicants must experience in the automotive industry on HGV and LCV, and relevant qualifications to back this up. Applicants must also have the ability to work efficiently on your own or as part of a busy team.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and good attention to detail, as well as the ability to work to tight deadlines and accurately follow written and spoken instructions.

The depot is open 7 days a week between 6am and 10pm – shifts are 5 days on 3 days off.
